Paint On!

It's a funny truth about human nature, that we are never satisfied.

It's easier to see what's wrong with our art than it is to see what's right.

It's easier to listen to a little voice inside that says "Your work isn't good enough" than it is to believe other people when they say, "That's wonderful."

It's easy to feel like giving up.

What's the best thing to do when we feel that way?

Keep on painting.

Get up in the morning, dip your brush, and paint.

Your work may not appeal to the majority, but there is someone out there who will be brought to tears by your work.... or maybe just a quiet smile.

Keep on painting.

You will never arrive.  The farther you go on this journey, the broader your horizon will be, and the farther away it will grow.

But you will grow along with it.  And tomorrow, or next week, or next year, you will dip your brush in that paint, and your strokes, long and short, will make something wonderful.

And no one will have to tell you that it's wonderful.  You will know it.

You must have been speaking personally to me with this post, because I often feel like my work isn't good enough. Of course, I don't paint, can't draw, can't sketch, but I created mixed media. When others say they like something I've made, I often think they're just saying it to be nice, not because the piece speaks to them. You have really given me something to think about. I'm here from AEDM, and appreciate this lesson you are trying to teach me.

So glad it was helpful! We really are all in the same boat with our doubts and fears, I think. <3

So many times I feel this way too...this must be our own personal habits or something. I agree though, just do it. If it makes you happy and even when it doesn't...do it!! We need more art and beauty and originality in this world, thank you so much for sharing yours! You are a huge inspiration, never forget that xo
