Twirl with Me
This is my week to paint for subscribers to my Painting-a-Month club. The weather is mild, and I have been taking my studio outdoors. It's a special pleasure to paint for subscribers... kind of like preparing a special birthday gift for a friend. I've asked them what colors they would like to unify their series; what elements they prefer...vintage papers? metallic paints?; and what paintings of mine are their favorites. One subscriber picked a Psalm 23 theme, one likes my blue sky paintings, another prefers my more pensive works.

So it isn't quite like a commission...the exact subject of the month's painting is unknown to the subscriber. I feel like I can work in my own style and with a good deal of creative leeway, but at the same time always keeping the delight of the subscriber in mind.
For me, as I paint and listen to the morning birdsong, it feels like the best of both worlds.
