I've been quiet on the blog lately because I've been doing a lot of thinking. As time goes by, more paths of possibility open up to me, and I want to choose which path to go down with care.
From the outside, not much has changed, perhaps. But I'm not pushing myself quite as hard and fast to produce as much as possible. I'm continuing my series of 100 hand paintings, but if the series isn't completed in 2016, that's fine with me.
I'm painting more large paintings, and I'm not hurrying through them. I'm taking as much time as they need.
I'm taking on a larger scale three dimensional project "Treasure in Earthen Vessels" for Art Prize in Grand Rapids. With both sculpted and painted elements, this project will take a few months to complete. (More about this project soon.)
The time of daily paintings taught me a lot... but I'm ready now to deepen my art practice, to choose quality over quantity. And this path that I've chosen has me breathing lots of fresh air.
